City Light Vision and Mission 2009

Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden…. In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Vision

We are committed to be an influential church shining as God’s beacon to make an impact on the young people in the city of Melbourne.

Mission

To foster new relationships

To spread the gospel to others

To nurture our members as disciples

To equip ourselves for God’s service

 As Christians, we all have the noble calling to be Christ’s ambassadors on this earth – to strive to act as Christ did, to tell others of salvation through Jesus and to make disciples of all nations. 

We believe that as City Light Methodist Church, we have an additional calling – and that calling is with respect to the young people of Melbourne city.  We want to see God working in the Melbourne CBD.  We want to see God working amongst the students, those making the transition to work and all those who are young at heart.  We want to engage with our community and spread the gospel to those who do not know it.   We want to continue to nurture Christians that they may mature and be well-equipped for service to God in their lives.
